Recreation

Escanaba Township currently has only one recreational complex which is located in Flat Rock on County 416 – 20th Road next to the now closed Flat Rock elementary school. It includes a playground, baseball field, dugouts, restrooms, concession stand (during baseball season) and a large pavilion. The pavilion has a kitchen with serving counters and may be rented for parties during the summer months ($75 per day) by calling Pauline Marenger at 786-4672.

The township is in the process of developing a walking trail on a tract of land near the Gladstone High School. This trail will ultimately be a two mile circular, naturally wooded trail when completed.

Also located in the Township is the DNR boat launch for the Escanaba River which is located at the west end of the West Gladstone Bridge.

In 2011 extensive work was done at the Flat Rock locations tot lot. Several new pieces of equipment were added and more wil be added in 2012.
